Very useful and informative article! I suppose it boils down to the problem with ‘ego’ and how to maintain a healthy relationship with your creative product. This obviously isn’t just limited to Medium (as history has proven) as there has always been a tension between what Rousseau called, ‘amour-propre’ and creativity (Orwell also cites vanity as one of the motives behind writing).
I suppose the issue is: do I compromise my vision/style for the sake of accessibility? There is an art to writing accessibly and tailoring your style to a particular ‘medium’, but at the same time I doubt Joyce would have got many claps!
