Very interesting article that touches on a subject that affects me deeply. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and my mother was in psychiatric institutions for nearly 15 years. The efficacy of the DSM-V, along with the practice of psychiatry in general, are not immune from scrutiny. Indeed, there are many alternatives/modifications that have been suggested within the field of mental health treatment.
