This was great. I've been inclined to make those mistakes in the past. I would add an addendum and say that, in terms of realistic dialogue, anything goes. When writing Umbrella, Will Self realised how much people say, "to be honest", so naturally peppered it throughout his novel. Incidentally, he now hates the expression!
