This begs the question, “What is the best content?”. Are the majority of readers really looking for the “best content" or the easiest to read?
Anyway, thank you for sharing this informative and lucid article. It was genuinely interesting and ties into stuff I’ve also written about. I do believe there is a place for more challenging content—there are many people (though the numbers are admittedly waning) who still practice delayed gratification.
It just depends what your motives are: success at the potential cost of creative integrity? Or creative integrity at the potential cost of success?
