The pedant in me can't quite let go of this, even though my spirit is urging me to (alas, the ego).

I've encountered responses like yours before and I should know to leave it alone, as I'm not going to magically change your state of mind by cleverly arranging a few words. However, with all due respect, you know nothing about me: not my impact on the world, my social group, my ethical bent, the compassion I feel—nothing. Yet, in one sentence, you insinuate I disregard people who are dying? It breaks my fucking heart. Whether it is trans people who suffer abuse, the people who suffered in Turkey's earthquake, my chronically ill partner, or my own institutionalized mother.

I was focusing mainly on Collin's points, hence why I didn't hone in on the death rates of trans people. And, I did refer to it:

"In my opinion, there are many more valid and viable methods to help trans people—education, creating a safer, more caring society, articles like yours, etc."

I'm not your enemy, Walter. You don't need to be so combative and get pulled into this "us and them" bs social media promotes. It is through dialogue we reach understanding and connection, no matter who we are.
