I’m not sure if you have the time to respond to the comments you get on here (and there are likely to be dozens within days), but I’d be interested to know what works of fiction had a profound impact on you. You mostly choose non-fiction for these lists, and I’d be curious to know about the stories that changed you.

I would also like to recommend an excellent sci-fi/fantasy trilogy called, 'The Broken Earth’. Not only do these books reinvent their respective genres, turning preconceptions and tropes on their heads, but the prose— deceptively spare yet often immensely powerful—is easy to read.
