This is why I often despair of Medium (germane to the themes discussed in this article): Notice how your more acerbic, politically-charged pieces have done so well (deservedly) whereas this poignant eulogy on reading hasn't. Short of waxing lyrical on the pleasures and pitfalls of "sucess", it clearly deserves better. The algorithm notwithstanding, the fact people can't be bothered is saddening.
