Firstly, I hate to detract from this brilliant piece by whining about Medium, but where the hell is the engagement? You have thousands of followers, and published days a go—it saddens me.
Regarding the thrust of the article, I very much agree with you. Among other things, Twitter is rife with parasocial insipidity, binary thinking, group-think, and often manufactured conflict.
What I believe characterises most of the dialogue online is reactive, automatic responses. People are manifesting their programming rather than approaching subjects with the requisite subtlety of thought and action.
In fact this mimesis, or reactivity extends to all aspects of life. Without introspection, stillness, or contemplation, what are we but automata? The walking dead? Mere conduits of social conditioning?
Being truly mindful (not necessarily "late-capitalist boost productivity mindful") can help us understand what drives are actions, and cultivate harmonious intentions.
Not an easy thing to do.
The problem (and indeed irony) is, while most people are willing to learn skills and abilities to get ahead in life, they often ignore what needs training most of all: themselves.
I apologise for the long comment and I sincerely hope to see this article get the engagement it deserves.
N.B. Was your list from "10 to 6" a wry, self-reflexive nod at your article's argument? Or just a mistake? I assume the former.
