And this is only the tip of the iceberg!
I never thought I would feel out of touch as a millennial, but here we are. Naturally, having been addicted myself, I was always acutely aware of the negative influence of social media.
However, I don't believe science has caught up to the psychological and neurological effects of TikTok (along with the recent addition of 'shorts' on YouTube and Instagram).
The effect this is having on children's neurochemistry and perception of themselves goes well beyond attention spans.
The children are not to blame. It is the technocrats who design this platforms specifically to be as addictive as possible. There is an insanely lucrative market for our attention. We must be vigilant.
